Question of the Month
Q: When is the right time to get fitted for a nursing bra? Currently I'm about 36 weeks and too big for everything. Is it too soon?
A: Here’s the thing. You will continue to grow as well as change shape throughout delivery and your first few days postpartum. With this in mind, getting fitted for a nursing bra at 36 weeks or even 38 weeks is really going to be too early. I recommend having something comfortable and supportive that you can wear now throughout the first week after birth that will accommodate your change in shape as well as allow you to nurse. A nursing tank or a supportive yet stretchy soft–cup bra might do the trick. Then come on in to get properly fitted for a good quality nursing bra about a week or so after delivery when you have a more accurate idea of what your body needs.
And let me encourage proper fit! I encourage moms to take the time to get a professionally fitted bra; one that will perfectly fit your nursing size and shape. Your body will thank you!
